Meet Our Trustees!
Meet our dedicated team of trustees, a diverse group of local professionals and advocates working together to foster community resilience and drive meaningful climate action across Bath and North East Somerset.

Mel Clarke
A resident of Bath since 1980 with a background in science and community service, Mel has spent decades supporting families and the elderly through mobile playbus projects and social care. Now a retired Unison member, she focus on campaigning against the root causes of social injustice and environmental degradation. As part of the Climate Hub, Mel is dedicated to fostering the community cooperation and shifts in consciousness needed to build a sustainable future.

Sue Poole
Originally from Essex and South Wales, Sue moved to Bath in 2017 following a career in local government housing. Now working in the charity sector, she balances part-time work with roles as a Climate Hub trustee and member of local wildlife and choir groups. Sue is particularly passionate about finding positive ways to engage the wider community with climate and nature issues.

John Leach
John is a retired cyber security consultant with both a technical and scientific training. He moved to Bath in 2017 and promptly became involved in local action on climate and environmental issues. As well as being a trustee of the Climate Hub since its inception and a member of Greenpeace, he is also a local ward councillor within B&NES with a particular interest in building local climate resilience.

Carmen Jones
A trustee since 2022, Carmen manages premises, coordinates artistic events, and leads workshops. Formerly a performing arts professional, she transitioned to become a forest school leader to help preserve the natural world. She now collaborates with conservation organizations to foster “nature connection,” believing it is key to building a more respectful relationship with our environment.

Grace Wiltshire
With a background in social work and the voluntary sector, Grace has dedicated my career to supporting carers, older people, and refugees. A lifelong campaigner for social and climate justice, she joined the Climate Hub as a Trustee in 2024 to help turn global concerns into local action. Inspired by my grandchild to protect the future, she has passionate about using the Hub to connect the community and facilitate the vital conversations needed to tackle the climate emergency.

Mandy Lake
A Trustee since 2022, Mandy has been involved with the Climate Hub from its inception, focusing on premises management and event coordination. Originally an early years educator who ran a Montessori School for 21 years, she has a long history of promoting environmental stewardship. Since moving to Bath in 2011, she has combined her charity sector experience with a lifelong passion for sustainability and animal welfare.

Natalie Barnett
A trustee since 2022, Natalie is driven by a commitment to ensuring a liveable planet for her two children and future generations. Professionally, she serves as a Climate Change Adaptation Officer at Somerset Wildlife Trust and is an active member of Parents for Future. Natalie believes that local collective action is the most powerful tool for addressing the climate crisis and preserving the wonder of nature.

Ryan Spencer
Web Design and Tech Support
After ten years working in the tech sector, Ryan wanted to channel those skills into meaningful climate action. Participating in the Climatebase Fellowship (Cohort 7) was a major catalyst, ultimately leading him to help bring the Climate Hub website to life. Moving from California in 2018, Ryan traded the sun for the grey and rain of the UK, but loves using his technical background to make climate resources more accessible to the community – rain or shine.
