| 3SG | 3SG is a membership network of over 200 charities, social enterprises and community groups in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES). This is the place to find local third sector news, events, jobs and support around B&NES. It’s very quick and easy to join and benefit from being a member. |
| Alice Park Community Garden | Alice Park Community Garden gives local people the tools for self-reliance by sharing skills and knowledge, and encouraging volunteers and visitors to grow their own fruit and vegetables using no dig and other techniques. that help build soil carbon, It models community resilience and food self-sufficiency, essential in today’s rapidly changing world. It is a regenerative space within Alice Park for people to reconnect with their role within the ecosystem. Open 24/7, it is inclusive to all, providing a supportive environment to volunteer, learn new skills, develop friendships, and connect with the local community. |
| Avon Gleaning Network | Avon Gleaning Network works with farms across Avon and Somerset to harvest surplus fruit and vegetables that would otherwise go to waste. This produce is redistributed to charitable food projects supporting people experiencing food insecurity. |
| Avon Needs Trees | Named for the river, Avon Needs Trees (ANT) is a registered charity creating new, permanent woodland at a landscape scale throughout the Bristol-Avon River catchment to tackle the climate and nature emergencies. ANT fundraises to buy land to create woodlands that will stand for generations as part of a mosaic of habitats including species-rich grasslands, wetlands, hedgerows, existing woodland and riparian corridors. |
| Avon Wildlife Trust | Avon Wildlife Trust is the largest local charity working to protect wildlife and inspire people in the West of England. We work across the old county of Avon and cover the four local authority areas of Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset. |
| B&NES Council | Bath & North East Somerset Council is delivering projects to improve habitats for wildlife and people across the district. This includes creating new pollinator-rich spaces to support biodiversity and ecological resilience. |
| Bath & West Community Energy (BWCE) | Bath & West Community Energy is a community-owned organisation developing renewable energy projects for local benefit. It supports clean energy generation, energy efficiency, and community investment, helping to build a fair and sustainable local energy system. |
| Bath Allotment Association | Bath Allotment Association supports allotment holders across the area through site coordination, workshops and community engagement, helping people grow food and build local connections. |
| Bath Area Growers | Bath Area Growers is a network of community-focused growing projects across Bath and the surrounding area, supporting collaboration, knowledge sharing and local food production. |
| Bath City Farm | Bath City Farm is a working Farm, a much-loved charity, and a popular visitor attraction. We provide education, training and therapeutic activities to people in the local community. The site benefits from stunning views over Bath and includes a community cafe, farm shop, farm animals, children’s playground, woodland, and nature trails. Entrance is free; however, donations are very welcome. |
| Bath Community Kitchen | Bath Community Kitchen uses shared meals and cookery workshops to improve wellbeing and access to healthy, affordable food. It supports people to build skills, confidence and stronger community connections. BCK’s vision is for more people in Bath to have opportunities to cook and eat together, to have access to delicious, healthy and affordable food, and be equipped with the skills to cook well for themselves, creating lasting change in the community. |
| Bath Extinction Rebellion | Extinction Rebellion is an international movement that uses non-violent civil disobedience in an attempt to halt mass extinction and minimise the risk of social collapse. Bath XR is an active local group, supporting local actions, regional events and national targeted activities. |
| Bath Mind | Bath Mind is an independent local charity providing mental health support and services across Bath and North East Somerset. |
| Bath Natural History Society: Bath Nature Watch | Bath Natural History Society promotes the study, conservation and recording of local wildlife. It offers field trips, talks, surveys and community engagement to support nature connection and knowledge. Activities: – Regular field trips and wildlife surveys – Monthly indoor talks (Oct–Apr) – Annual meeting and social in January – Education and talks for community groups – Wildlife ID and public events |
| Bath Organic Group | The garden, which is run by volunteers, is open on Saturdays and Tuesdays between 10am–1:00pm. Visitors are welcome to visit and look around, have a cup of tea and a chat. Volunteers, both beginners and experienced gardeners, help maintain this half-acre of beautiful, productive and (reasonably!) well-maintained fruit and vegetable garden. |
| Bath u3a / Climate Environment Actionists Group | Bath u3a is a network for retired people offering learning, social connection and shared activities. Its Climate Environment Actionists Group meets regularly to explore and take action on environmental issues. |
| Bath2050 | A concept that explores the future of the city of Bath, focusing on its potential trajectory towards 2050, particularly regarding climate change, sustainability, and social justice. It involves imagining and planning for a more equitable and environmentally responsible future for Bath. |
| Bath Urban Treescape | Bath Urban Treescape is a community-led initiative dedicated to protecting, enhancing, and expanding tree cover across Bath and North East Somerset. Through advocacy, education, and hands-on action, the group works to ensure that trees are valued as vital urban infrastructure—supporting biodiversity, climate resilience, air quality, and community wellbeing. Bath Urban Treescape collaborates with local residents, organisations, and decision-makers to promote better planning, stewardship, and long-term care of the urban forest, helping to create a greener, healthier, and more resilient city for all. |
| Bathscape | Bathscape supports landowners and communities to enhance habitats and access to nature across Bath and its surrounding landscape. It offers advice, grants, wellbeing walks and educational resources to connect people with nature. |
| Better Planet Education | Better Planet Education provides accessible environmental learning resources for young people, educators and families. It aims to inspire climate awareness and action through engaging and practical content. |
| Blooming Whiteway | Blooming Whiteway is a community initiative focused on growing food, increasing biodiversity and strengthening local connections. It works across multiple sites, supporting ecological gardening and community engagement. |
| Bristol and Avon Rivers Trust | “A clear future for our rivers” – BART are a charity aiming to conserve & enhance the waterbodies of the Bristol Avon Catchment. |
| Buzz and Scuttle | Buzz & Scuttle aims to encourage whole communities to look at the insects that live alongside us, learn to respect these extraordinary and vital creatures and adopt gardening techniques that help wildlife to flourish even in the smallest outside spaces. |
| CAFE BaNes | CAFE BANES is an informal network of Christians in the Bath and North East Somerset area who are involved in, or want to encourage, action to improve the environment and protect nature. |
| Centre for Sustainable Energy | CSE is an independent national charity formed in 1979. Our vision is a world where sustainability is second nature, carbon emissions have been cut to safe levels and fuel poverty has been replaced by energy justice. CSE shares their knowledge and practical experience to empower people to change the way they think and act about energy. |
| City to Sea | City to Sea is an environmental organisation on a mission to stop plastic pollution, running people-powered, community–serving campaigns that help individuals and businesses to change the world whilst having some fun on the way. The problem might be complicated, but CtS think the solutions don’t have to be. |
| Climate Fresk | In just 3 hours, the collaborative Climate Fresk workshop will teach you the fundamental science behind climate change and empower you to take action. In order to take action and build solutions, we first need to understand the problem. Climate Fresk is a powerful tool for providing a quality climate education. It is accessible to anyone and can be scaled quickly within an organisation or community. |
| Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon | Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon (CFB) is an unincorporated association with a constitution. Our vision is for Bradford on Avon to be a community that does not rely on fossil fuels and carries out sustainable and resilient lifestyles. Our events and activities have eight main themes: Sustainable Travel, Biodiversity, Energy, Community Involvement, Sustainable Food and Drink, monitoring Swifts and installing swift boxes, Zero Waste, and Neighbourhood Plan. |
| Compton Dando Community Association | Compton Dando Community Association works with local residents to support community initiatives, including efforts to become a zero-carbon village. |
| Crop Drop BANES | CropDrop is coordinating the redistribution of fruit and vegetables from bountiful allotments and growers. Volunteer drivers transport this untapped resource to charity projects that provide food, alleviating food poverty across Bath & North East Somerset (B&NES). CropDrop links allotments and food projects within the same area to help strengthen communities and minimise the food miles of the allotment produce. |
| Dry Arch Growers | Founded in 2010, Dry Arch Growers is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit organisation operating on the site of a former market garden, orchard, and nursery at the end of Holcombe Lane in Bathampton. Members “sow together, grow together and share together”. Work-days are Thursdays and Sundays. | EcoTogether | EcoTogether provides a programme to bring together small groups of friends, neighbours or colleagues for five structured sessions, themed on energy, food transport and resource use. Group members use our well-researched. fact based information pack to help you understand what you can do. It provides suggestions for steps you can take. It encourages group members to share knowledge and experience and support each other. Group members use the structured sessions to run the course and there are no costs involved. All materials are completely free! |
| Ecowild | Ecowild connects people with nature through inclusive programmes, including wellbeing sessions, education, events and volunteering. It prioritises access for underrepresented groups. |
| Energy Sparks | Energy Sparks provides a unique online school specific energy management tool and education programme designed to help schools, their pupils and staff reduce their energy use and carbon footprint. Energy Sparks provides analysis of schools’ gas and electricity use, action prompts, and energy-saving priorities via pupil and staff dashboards and weekly alert emails. They benchmark school energy use against other similar schools around the country, provide over 140 downloadable education resources to develop pupil understanding of energy use and its impact, and provide recommendations to help schools develop a climate action plan to reduce carbon emissions. |
| Farmborough Shop and Cafe | Farmborough Shop and Café is a community hub offering locally sourced food and a welcoming social space, supporting local producers and village life. |
| Food Cycle Bath | FoodCycle Bath welcomes anyone to attend as a guest and enjoy a FREE hot meal. No need to book. Just turn up on the day! Walcot Methodist Chapel, Nelson Place, Bath, BA1 5DA, Wednesdays at 7pm |
| Galleries Shop and Cafe | The Galleries Community Shop & Café is built, owned and run by the people of Freshford and Limpley Stoke. They are welcoming and friendly, and strive to provide affordable, high quality and sustainable products from local producers. They are run by a charity and profits are reinvested back into the community. |
| Go Green Widcombe | Go Green Widcombe is a volunteer group supporting residents to reduce carbon emissions and adopt sustainable lifestyles, including renewable energy use. |
| Grow Batheaston | Grow Batheaston is a community initiative promoting local food growing, biodiversity and sustainable living, while strengthening community connections. |
| Grow for Life | Grow for Life provides therapeutic gardening sessions to support people experiencing mental health challenges, helping build confidence, wellbeing and social connection. |
| Grow Timsbury | Grow Timsbury is a small CIC run by volunteers. They are passionate about local food and its benefits for health, sustainability and wellbeing. They are searching for a community growing site in Timsbury and run a thriving community market in the village with over 20 stalls of local food, a repair room and pop-up cafe. You can visit the market on the last Saturday of each month between April and November. |
| Kidical Mass Bath | Kidical Mass is a family-friendly cycle ride to celebrate cycling and show that we want to cycle and we need safe spaces to do so. Make space! Don’t limit children – limit traffic. Everyone welcome: children on their own cycles, balance bikes, cargo bikes, trailers, trikes. |
| Let’s Go Zero | Let’s Go Zero is the national campaign uniting teachers, pupils, parents and their schools as they all work together to be zero carbon by 2030. Let’s Go Zero Climate Action Advisors are here to give free and tailored advice to help green England’s school buildings, transport, menus and more. |
| Meadow In My Garden CIC | For over 10 years Meadow In My Garden have been helping people to go wild in their gardens and working with community groups, councils and landscapers across the UK to transform monocultures into wildlife friendly planting schemes. All flower seed mixes are tested for biodiversity value, attracting birds, butterflies and bees, and the spellbinding impact of the displays is nothing short of inspirational, helping to rebuild a greater connection with nature. |
| Middle Ground Growers | Middle Ground Growers produces organic, regenerative vegetables and delivers them locally by e-bike, supporting sustainable food systems. |
| More Trees BANES | A community-led initiative working to increase tree cover across Bath and North East Somerset. They bring people together to plant, protect, and care for trees, helping to combat climate change, support wildlife, and improve wellbeing. Through local planting events, education, and collaboration with landowners and volunteers, More Trees BANES is growing a greener, healthier future—one tree at a time. |
| National Energy Action | National Energy Action is a Fuel Poverty Charity that provides support and advice on energy and water efficiency and accounts. They also have Benefit Advisors and can provide energy efficiency talks to community groups. |
| National Trust Assembly Rooms | The National Trust are currently working on a new visitor experience which will enable the Assembly Rooms to continue to be a place for assembly, connection and entertainment, welcoming in Bath’s visitors and residents. The full experience is currently due to open in 2026, but until then there will be special events, tours and programming at the Bath Assembly Rooms. | Nature Chain | Nature Chain is an action group with an aim to increase wildlife habitat and connect existing habitats in our village gardens and the local landscape. |
| Orchard Share | Orchardshare is a community group that has been managing Bath orchards for over 20 years. We currently manage 3 orchards in Northend, Bathampton and Wellow. They run events and support events including Apple Days and an annual Wassail. |
| Organic Growers Alliance | An association of growers, horticulturalists and farmers providing information and support to members. |
| Parents for Future – Bath & Bristol | Monthly in meet-ups in Bath or Bristol – see Instagram for details, regular online meetings as part of the national group. |
| Peasedown Environment Group | Local community group advocating conservation research and promoting wildlife study. |
| Plant Based Councils | Plant-Based Councils brings together, trains and supports teams of volunteers to campaign for change in their local council. PBC call on councils to lead the way with climate action on food by switching to 100% plant-based catering for internal meetings and events, prioritising seasonal British produce to support our farmers. This normalises and makes popular plant-based eating, an important step in the push towards a plant-based food system. |
| Primrose Hill Community Woodland | A hidden gem on the northern slopes of Bath, with spectacular views across the city and the surrounding countryside, our community woodland is a place to reconnect with nature. |
| Radio Bath – Earth Matters | Radio Bath Earth Matters is a climate, environment, and nature program broadcast on Radio Bath. The show features discussions on various environmental topics, including local nature, sustainable tourism, climate change, and a connection to broader environmental issues, and is also available as a podcast on platforms |
| Re-Gen Growing | Re-Gen Growing focuses on regenerative growing practices, improving soil health and addressing climate challenges through sustainable cultivation. |
| Reclaim our Buses West of England | Join the West of England’s fight for better public transport! Thousands of bus services are being cut, leaving communities stranded. Reclaim Our Buses are calling for bus franchising to give power back to the people, ensuring affordable, reliable, and frequent services for everyone. |
| Regathering | Regathering is a community event initiative bringing people together to explore connection, sustainability and shared action. The first Regathering event ran in August 2024, another event will run in summer of 2025. |
| Retrofit West | Retrofit West provides expert advice and support for home energy improvements, helping residents plan and deliver energy-efficient upgrades. The Retrofit West advice service is funded by The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority. It covers the West of England region which consists of the following local authorities: Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire. |
| Roots Allotments | There are two sites in BANES: Avon Views and Tuckers Meadows. These sites are the flagship Roots allotment sites, marking the exciting debut of a community-driven gardening initiative. Nestled in the heart of Bath, this pioneering location quickly became a hub for local gardeners, offering a range of plots for cultivating fresh produce and embracing sustainable practices. |
| Share and Repair | Share and Repair is a community initiative supporting reuse, repair and waste reduction through workshops and local services. Based on George Street, open 5 days a week: 10am-1pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and 1-4pm on Thursdays. |
| Somer Valley Rediscovered | The Somer Valley lies to the south of Bath and is within Bath & North East Somerset. Somer Valley Rediscovered was established in 2020 as a green infrastructure partnership project led by Bath & North East Somerset Council, Wessex Water, Natural England and University of Bath. The project has dual aims of improving biodiversity whilst better connecting communities to their local greenspaces and landscapes. |
| The Bear Flat Association | The Bear Flat Association supports the local community through engagement, events and initiatives that enhance the area and its green spaces, as a membership organisation that works for people who live, work and visit the area of Bath known as Bear Flat. Their purpose is to: promote the area as a great place to live, provide a forum to discuss matters of local importance, encourage a sense of local community, bringing people together, create a social environment and look after green spaces. |
| The Climate Choir Movement | The Climate Choir Movement began in Bristol in 2022 and now has choirs in Ballycastle, Bath, Cambridge, Derbyshire, Exeter, Forest of Dean, Guildford, Hay-on-Wye, London, Oxford, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Sheffield, Southampton, Wyre Forest & Zimbabwe. The Movement has a collective ethos where all are involved in making it thrive. A core group coordinate major activities whilst local choirs arrange their own events, inviting other nearby choirs to join in if they wish. |
| The Climates – Frome International Climate Film Festival | The Climates is a free international film festival based in Frome, celebrating bold, creative storytelling on climate and the environment. With films from over 100 countries, community events, and inspiring talks, it’s a joyful space for sharing hope, action, and global voices for change. |
| The Community Farm | The Community Farm is an organic, not-for-profit farm producing local food and offering events, volunteering and education opportunities. They are all about food that nourishes you, your community and your environment. Organic food, grown and shared with local hands and hearts. Join them on the farm for events, courses and volunteering and get local, organic food delivered right to your door. |
| The Countryside Charity – Avon and Bristol | The Countryside Charity works to make rural areas accessible, sustainable and beneficial for communities and nature. |
| The Urban Garden Bath | The Urban Garden Bath is a social enterprise garden centre offering plants and products that support community and environmental wellbeing. |
| Time Bank Plus | Time Bank Plus is a small charity based in Twerton which aims to facilitate people to engage with their local community, by means of a range of projects and activities, which help to build skills and capacity, enhance wellbeing, reduce social isolation and promote confidence and self-esteem. |
| Transition Bath | Transition Bath supports and initiates community projects based around energy, transport and food to create a sustainable and carbon-free future for our city. |
| Transition Larkhall | Transition Larkhall lobbies on local environmental issues. Their campaigns and projects follow our supporters’ concerns e.g. recent ones have been. to preserve Lambridge Wildlife Haven and are currently running a programme of EcoTogether sessions. Transition Larkhall supports Alice Park Community Garden and Community Orchard at Plain Ham Allotment site. |
| Undercliffe Urban Farm | Undercliffe Urban Farm is a small-scale market garden promoting sustainable food production and community engagement. |
| Walk Ride Bath | Walk Ride Bath campaigns for a resilient, liveable city that has tackled the social model of disabiliity where walking, wheeling and cycling is enabled and a real travel choice for all ages and abilities. |
| Waterleaze Growers | Waterleaze Growers is a community group growing food collectively, supporting local food production and shared learning. |
| We Are Avon | We Are Avon is an emerging web of active producers, farms, organizations and diverse communities collaborating to build better local food systems for all. This is a grassroots movement to provide healthy and affordable food resilience for this region whilst also regenerating the communities, lands and waters of the Avon catchment area. Anchoring food and land as powerful frames for reconnecting people to place, this project aims to re-identify humans as regenerators and solutionists to the climate and nature crisis we collectively face. |
| Wild About Bath | Wild About Bath encourages people to engage with and protect local wildlife, strengthening community and nature connection. |
| Wild About Weston | Wild About Weston is a local group supporting community engagement with nature through regular events and activities. Approximately every 6-8 weeks in a local venue. |
| Your Park Bath and Bristol | Your Park Bath and Bristol works to ensure that everyone can access and benefit from green spaces, supporting health, wellbeing and community life. |
